My God is So Big

Well, today started out rough with most of us getting very little sleep last night, but wouldn't you know it, God gave us the strength to make it through another day of teacher training. He is so good! We began our morning with a delicious breakfast that consisted of Harina del Negrito (cream of wheat). I think each one of us commented on how delicious the DR's version of this breakfast dish is, and how we could easily eat it all day long. If you're ever in the DR, I highly recommend you ask for it. You won't be disappointed.

As we geared up to head to the church for teacher training, Mike was preparing to head out for his construction project (updates ahead). The team arrived at the church to find all of our students ready to learn. Each day we teach 2 to 3 new songs that the teachers can use in their Sunday School classrooms. Today's songs were Waves of Mercy, Dig a Hole, and My God is So Big. I've always loved these songs; they are simple and easy for children to learn. But today, one of the teachers, Noemi, offered to stand up in front of the class and teach us all a new song in Spanish. The song was simple enough for all of us to understand and join in...

I absolutely love this song! It's such a simple song, with a simple, but great message. And I think the whole team was excited to learn a song in Spanish!

I think the best part of the day, though, was being able to pray over a young woman, "Nija", who decided to accept Jesus into her heart today. Words cannot express the emotion that overcomes you when you know that you will have a new sister in heaven with you for eternity. I'm sure many of you have experienced a blessing like this yourselves. It brought me to tears; especially when more than half the class came up to pray over her and ask for prayer for themselves. The teachers have so little, but their love for the for Jesus is so great. It was such a blessed day for the whole team.

And, as promised, we have an update on Mike's construction project. He was able to get the the framing done, followed by the sheetrock. The room already looks completely transformed. God definitely gifted Mike in this area, and is allowing him to use that gift to bless His people.

I have to say, today has been a reminder of just how BIG our God really is! Please pray for restful and refreshing nights. We can really use it. And thank your for your continued love and support.
