It is 2:00 AM Sunday morning as I write this in Siem Reap, Cambodia, which means it is noon Saturday back home in California. I feel a bit guilty because I could have written this 9 hours ago when we arrived at our hotel, but truth be told, after 30 hours of travel I was looking forward to sitting down for a meal and a good nights sleep. I wonder why I am up at 2 in the morning, sitting in the dark typing. Yes, it's dark in the room. The power is on, the air conditioner and WiFi are on, but the lights aren't. I can only assume the lights have some type of timer that conserves electricity during night time hours.
Through the grace and power of God, our travel team of Linda, Becky, Theresa, Sharon, Sharon, Deb, Lavonne, and Don came through pre-trip warfare, family illness, death of close a friend, lost background investigations, and a last minute run to the photo center for a visa photo because of a misread email, just to name a few areas of attack, as well as long hours of travel, just like the team of spiritual warriors you all know they are. I have been studying Jonah lately, and unlike that reluctant missionary, this team is moving forward with confidence and spiritual peace. I can't wait to see the work He has for us.
Today is Sunday, and a day of rest and renewal for us. We will be attending church with the team we are partnering with here in Siem Reap, and I for one can't wait. God bless you all, and thank you for the many prayers that have gone up supporting us. We can feel the power of them working.
Don
There's been lots of that.
Praying for the team, and the trip overall. Remember that if God wakes you up in the middle of the night, just go with it. Its a beautiful time to just sit quietly with Him.
Writing in the dark...or should I say light. Psalm 139:11-12 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
Praying for the team : )
