Arrived Safely in Cambodia

Updated: Sep 18, 2019

As many of you who follow Fifty5five on Facebook already know, Becky, Theresa, Jeri, and Don have safely arrived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Travel was long, but uneventful. Connections were smooth with only one stop in China on the way. I have to admit that it was a bit strange to get on an airplane on Saturday, and get off 13 hours later in China only to find out it is Monday. Exactly what happened to Sunday?

We were able to meet and have dinner with the young man that runs the school we will be teaching at in Svey Reing. He shared his testimony with us. Such a powerful witness of the impact of Jesus in his life and throughout Cambodia. We are looking forward to partnering with him at the end of this week, and the beginning of next.

Tomorrow morning, we have a six o'clock time set to meet for breakfast and devotionals before we start teacher training here in Phnom Penh. As for devotionals. We start each day with a 30 minute or so devotional to get the day started with Jesus in the lead. This trip, we will be looking at a selected number of Psalms. Wifi connections are going to be "iffy" during our stay, however, I hope to share each night (for you morning) our devotional for the next day, and encourage you to do the devotional with us, and as always to pray for us daily.

Tomorrow's devotional is Psalm 8. As you read it, here are a few questions to keep in mind.

  • What is the difference between LORD and Lord, both of which are used in the first verse?

  • What areas of creation can you see that point you to the majesty of God?

  • What is your favorite "Son of Man" scripture? How and why does it speak to you?

  • How does Psalm 8 share with you "the creation" and "the savior"?
